EmpowerHer Fellowship

ACPA’s Standing Committee for Women (SCW) is now accepting applications for the 2012-2013 EmpowHer New Professional Fellowship. The woman selected as the 2012-2013 SCW Fellow will begin a year-long process focusing on her professional development.

The GOALS of this program are to:

  • Help integrate young professional women into the structure and functions of ACPA
  • Promote involvement in ACPA and SCW
  • Facilitate the development of professional writing and presentation skills
  • Assist young professional women with career exploration and planning

The program BENEFITS include:

  • Waived registration fee to the 2013 ACPA Convention
  • Attendance at ACPA leadership meetings
  • Attendance at SCW leadership and general meetings at the ACPA Convention
  • Attendance at SCW Directorate mid-year meeting in the fall of 2012
  • Mentoring sessions with SCW Directorate members (post-mid-year meeting)
  • Opportunity to manage a project related to one of the existing SCW Directorate committees; technology, connections, intersectionality, research and education, convention or membership
  • Assistance developing a workshop proposal based on her experiences for the 2013 ACPA Convention

The EXPECTATIONS of the 2012-2013 EmpowHer Fellow include:

  • Writing a reflective piece for SCW’s The Echo, about her experience as the EmpowHer Fellow
  • Participate in mentoring sessions (via phone and email) post mid-year meeting
  • Participate in monthly conference calls with SCW Directorate members
  • Submit a program proposal for the 2013 ACPA Convention
  • Participate in pre/post assessment of the EmpowHer Fellowship

Eligibility requirements:

  • Must attend the 2013 ACPA Convention and the fall 2012 mid-year meeting
  • Current member of ACPA
  • Current master’s level graduate student and/or less than two years of full-time experience in the field.
  • Capable of fulfilling one-year term as EmpowHer Fellow
