Interested in Getting Involved? SCW always welcomes those who want to make a difference!
There are several ways to get involved in the work of the Standing Committee for Women. SCW is currently comprised of the Elected Directorate Members and the Volunteer Leadership Team. We welcome all involvement! To stay up to date on SCW activities and opportunities, please join the SCW listserv.
Volunteer Leadership Team
The Volunteer Leadership Team is comprised of women, just like you, who serve as members of a subcommittee and work on projects and tasks throughout the year that help to empower women in many different ways. There are various levels of involvement within SCW. Many can be done from the comfort of your own home or office and some will take place at the annual convention. So whether you’ve been in the profession 2 months, 2 years or 2 decades, we want to empower you to empower others!
To join the VLT:
- Fill out our online survey to inform the SCW about your involvement interest. You will be asked to list the opportunities you are interested in being involved in this survey.
- We will review your information and then contact you about opportunities that we hope will match your interests.
- Questions? Please email us at standingcommitteeforwomen@gmail.com. Please include “Volunteer Leadership Team” in the subject line.
- Submit a program proposal about and/or related to women to the national convention. Ask for it to be sponsored by SCW.
- Apply for the EmpowHer Fellowship.
- Attend SCW sponsored events at Convention including programs, socials, and the business meeting. Ask questions and express your concerns.
- Contact the Chair or other Directorate members to identify issues of concern to you and/or women in your area.
- Use SCW as a basis for your own local professional network. Identify women’s issues in your home area and find other ACPA members who want to work on the same issue with you.
- Run for one of the positions on the Directorate open each year.
